Thanks. My laptops are working again. Sorry for the inconvenience of such a late post but my mom has been sick and then my car needed some repairs--everything happens at one time, seems like.

Any updates yet on the laptop(s) status?

What happens when holding down the power button for around 10 seconds on these laptops to do a hard shutdown? It should clear these messages off and allow you to turn the computer back on and get back to the desktop.

Post back after doing the above steps so we can advise further instructions.

I had to come to the library to post this because I am having problems with both my laptops at the same time. I had been experiencing long wait times when surfing the net with my ASUS laptop (it was upgraded several months ago--no problems- from Windows 7 to Windows 10). I decided to "update and shut down." Now there is a "Shutting Down" message frozen on the screen whenever it is turned on so I can't do anything online with the laptop. My cursor from my mouse shows up on the screen however.

My Toshiba (Vista program) has a "Logging Off" message frozen on it's screen--my cursor from the mouse does not show on the screen at all on this laptop. Ever ytime I press the power button to on this "logging Off" message appears and I don't know how to get it off--can't get it off this page at all.

One of the PC repair stores wants $80 to fix the problem -just on the ASUS laptop. I'm hoping I can fix it myself with help from one of the Techs on Go Wilkes.

I will check back in tomorrow to see if I get any responses. Thanks much!
