theres nothing you can do except replace the ipad. apple stopped supporting them at ios 9 point something so there is no 10 update for the ipad 2. which means that eventually the apps will stopped being supported f they havent already. unsupported apps means that the apps will just crash or run really slow to where you wanna throw it out the window lol. the best thing to here is replace the ipad and give the old one to your 5 year old

i suggest that If you use Safari for your browser, try clearing the cache. If it's really big then that will help speed up the internet.
If you have a lot of photos on your iPad, sign up for Google Photos and move all of them there.

It has nothing to do with the specific recent update to 10. Its that the iPad 2 is several generations/years old and out of date. There is nothing you can do but replace the iPad

Yes, but if they revert back to iOS9 then they'll know if the problem is the new OS.

You can prevent it from updating any more updates by blocking Apple in your Wifi router. Just block these in your firewall:

appldnld.apple.com
mesu.apple.com

Apple has some issues with the latest IOS 10 update.

Do you not realize that you can't revert iOS to an older version? You can do it for a short temporary period in the very immediate after an upgrade, but eventually, you'll be forced back to the upgrade.

Apple sucks in this form, and it's widely known.

When did it start running slow? It usually does that after an OS update, so try reverting back to an earlier version.

Also, uninstall any apps you don't absolutely need. They all take up a little bit of RAM and CPU, so the less you have the faster it will run. Go through the general menu, and deactivate anything that you can. Mail and Calendar are huge resource hogs, so turn off those if you can. Background wallpaper, background download, notifications, turn them all off if you can.

If you use Safari for your browser, try clearing the cache. If it's really big then that will help speed up the internet.

If you have a lot of photos on your iPad, sign up for Google Photos and move all of them there.

If you're still running slow, try backing up everything you can and then do a factory reset. This will take it back to the Day One settings, so it should be like brand new. Then you can slowly add one thing back at a time.

Then live with it. Those are your options. Apple breaks their own products by creating new versions of iOS that eventually (usually about 3 or 4 years from the original product release) makes their older products almost inoperable. They are notorious for it. It's why many iOS device owners stop updating their OS after about generation updates. The problem with that, is they also require app developers to keep their apps up to date and to cut off how far back they will work with old versions of iOS. Basically, if you have an app you really like or need, eventually it will force you to update your iOS (if you update the app).

So your only fix, is buy a new one. I just had to replace several iPad 2's earlier this year because of the same problem.
